Introduction
On behalf of the McNally Swords CC committee I would like to wish everybody a happy new year. I would also like to wish Breda McNally a speedy recovery from her nasty fall off the bike before Christmas.

Once again it is the time of year to renew ones membership and full details of the amount due is listed. The club membership fees for 2006 is included with this newsletter. The Membership Sign-on Night is scheduled for Monday 30th January Fingallians GAA Club at 8.30 p.m. Please try to attend this meeting. The appropriate forms will be available for completion.

Membership for 2006 Season Note that all members of McNally Swords Cycling Club must register with either Cycling Ireland or the Irish Veteran Cycling Association.

In addition, in order to enable our treasurer to manage the membership fee more effectively, those who use cheques must write two separate cheques (McNally Swords CC and Cycling Ireland or IVCA). The Irish Veteran Cyclists Association Leisure League 2006
This is a 10 round series primarily but not exclusively for leisure and touring members. The events are not competitive and are designed to encourage members of all abilities to take part. Each event is controlled at a leisure pace with points awarded for participation. A perpetual trophy is awarded to the cyclist with the highest points at the end of the series.

The racing calendar has not yet been finalised.

SKERRIES FINAL DAY SHOWDOWN FOR 2006 FBD INSURANCE RÁS
The seaside town of Skerries in north county Dublin will experience Ireland’s most important cycling event with all the thrills and colour of world-class international cycle racing with the exciting news that in a dramatic break with tradition the final stage of this year’s FBD Insurance RÁS will finish in the town on Sunday 28th May. Swords CC have been approached by the RAS Organisation to help with marshalling on the final day 28th May’06 in Skerries.

Following seven tough stages around Ireland, the riders will line out in Clara, county Offaly on Sunday May 28th with 155 kilometres still to be covered. The route will take them over twisting, undulating roads and through towns such as Kinnegad, Trim, Dunshaughlan, The Naul and Balrothery, before the peleton arrives in Skerries and begins two laps of the 13.8 kilometre circuit
