Spring 2006 Newsletter
Club League
The Club League commences on the 9th of April and enclosed please find the fixture list for the first six races. It is important that marshals/stewards attend their designated race or make alternative arrangements so as to ensure that the events take place in a safe manner. The committee also requests that the Chief Marshall conduct a final sweep of the course at the end of a race to ensure nobody gets lost!
Membership Affiliation for Club League
The committee would like to remind all riders who are competing in the club league to ensure they are both a member of McNally Swords CC as well as Cycling Ireland and that evidence of Membership of Cycling Ireland is required to be produced when registering for your first league event.

Check out Richies new look site re-designed by Anthony Cooper who has also kindly designed a new look for our own site. It will take a while before our own new look is up & running as there is a fair amount of work to be done in changing over but I know you will be pleased with the new look. Below is the link for Richies and a preview link to how our new site will look

The Season so far… The racing season got off to a flying start with all (young) guns blazing!!!! In the first race of the season Stephen Halpin got into an early break and never missed a turn only to be caught on the run in by a group of mostly A riders which included Sean Rock in his first senior race. Stephen still managed to hold on for 1st J. Next day in a Dublin Wheelers Invitation Race Stephen & Sean did a 1-2 when initially Sean Rock made a bid for victory but when caught with 2k to go, Stephen & Brian Taffe (DWCC) countered With Stephen taking the win and Sean taking the bunch gallop for 3rd.
St Patrick’s w/end saw Kevin Donagher making the most of the h/cap to stay clear to pick up 4th while Sean Rock was 1st B. These two placed well the next w/end in Carlow but better things were to lie ahead for both riders. In the Christy McManus Sean Rock overcame the h/cap and burst clear to take the sprint for his first win a Senior. In a w/end of Racing promoted by Balbriggan Jason O’Callagan took 1st B on the Saturday while Michael Daly was 1st J in both races. The Sunday has als a C race and Kevin Donagher attacked on the Naul Hill on lap 1 (just to stay warm says he!!!) and held on to solo to victory. Great early season results from Swords riders and nearly all achieved in attrocious conditions. We will be watching with great interest on how they all get on in the Gorey 3-Day. Looks like we have the makings of a strong team.
